Nowadays the commodity vegetable growing in the protected soil o is one of the most dynamically developing branches of agriculture in Russia.
The active attraction of large-scale investments in the greenhouse industry in 2015 - 2019 made it possible to launch a lot of large industrial greenhouses with tens of thousands tons of gross yield. In the current year 2020, even taking into account the reduction of state support and the reduction in the number of new investment projects, the gross harvest will maintain the upward trend due to reaching the full capacity of already built greenhouse complexes and the ongoing reconstruction of old greenhouses.
At the same time, the greenhouse industry in Russia is developing not only towards an extensive increase in production volumes, but also due to the large-scale introduction of modern agricultural technologies, equipment, designs, breeding achievements, optimization of business processes, improvement of pre-sale preparation of products, expanding the geography and distribution channels.
Domestic competition in the domestic market of producers is actively forming, but its level is very different in the regions. Globalization of the greenhouse market is already clearly present in the European part of Russia, as well as in individual megacities of the country. Producers in Siberia and the Far East practically do not compete with each other and do not exchange operational information. The main competitive forces in the eastern part of Russia for many years remain Chinese importers and the shadow business.
Thus, growing vegetables in the protected soil is gradually moving to a new stage of its development and consolidation. Consolidation of production and centralization of management and sales leads to scaling up of successful business, strengthening of interregional ties, growth of labor productivity and efficiency of production processes, standardization of finished product quality.
Research objective

- To identify the largest investors in the greenhouse industry, their implemented and planned projects, and the impact on the domestic market,
- Give information on new projects of industrial greenhouses in each Federal District and their implementation prospects,
- Compare the competitive forces of the main greenhouse market players. Calculate comparative ratings of leading industrial greenhouses,
- Calculate the deficit / surplus of local production of the main vegetable crops of protected soil in Russia's districts,
- To estimate the potential for the construction of new modern greenhouses for the internal security of the regions, taking into account plans of working enterprises and announced projects, for 2020 - 2023,
- To prepare estimates of average market basic prices for the sale of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers by producers of protected soil in Russia as a whole and the Federal Districts, in particular, for 2020 - 2022,
- To give recommendations on the formation of the assortment and assortment matrix, pricing policy for new projects and existing enterprises in terms of current and projected balance of the market of supply and demand for greenhouse vegetables.
