The VTB bank reported about increase in the set credit limit for the Volgograd group of companies "Radezh" which implements the large project on creation of agreenhouse complex of 20 hectares in Volzhsk. In the press release of bank it is spoken about provision of 750 million rubles on expansion of greenhouse economy of JSC Ovoshchevod. (JSC Ovoshchevod is the part of Radezh Group.)
The director general of Radezh Group Yury Sudarev declared intentions to invest about 1,4 billion rubles in greenhouses in June, 2012. The idea of the project consisted in delivering fresh vegetables for own distribution network which, according to Retailer.ru portal, totals 121 shops. (Total sales of group in 2013 was stated approximately in 10,5 billion rubles.) Design capacity of a greenhouse complex shall make more than 11 thousand tons of vegetables a year, the payback period of the project was designated in 8 years.
Plans of Radezh Group fit into a long-term trend on expansion of greenhouse capacities in the south of Russia, more than once noted in publications "Expert South". According to the director general of the consulting company "Growth Technology" Tamara Reshetnikova, need for fresh vegetables of a greenhouse origin considerably exceed production capabilities of operating industrial greenhouses in a cold season in Russia. Therefore the tendency to implementation of new large projects with use of modern agrotechnologies is noticeable recently.
In particular, for the Volgograd region which has considerably smaller appeal to investors, than Don and Kuban, greenhouse vegetable growing appeared one of those niches where the equity goes quite willingly. Project implementation of Brazis group of companies which at that time was the second in the south of Russia on the declared area of greenhouses (52 hectares) began fall of 2012.
At the same time present rates of greenhouse construction building-up in the south, according to experts, won't allow to satisfy in the short term the internal demand on vegetable products. "Scales of greenhouse capacities updating are unfortunately too modest and can't solve a problem with a huge flow of import of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and pepper to Russia" — Tamara Reshetnikova notes.
